MEET THE IN-STUDIO TEAM

Jack

We’re super excited to introduce our awesome new tutor, Jack McCroubrie! Jack’s an old friend of Goodtime Music Academy, and we’re stoked to have him back.
Hey, I’m Jack! I’m 24 and have been playing guitar since I was 5 – almost 20 years! I live in Wellington, recently graduated from Massey University with a degree in Music Industry, and I play in a band called “Fine Wine Social Club.” When I’m not jamming, you’ll find me cheering on the Wellington Phoenix or at a gig around the city. Can’t wait to meet you!

Jonathan

Johnathan's been inspired by music ever since he learnt how to switch on his dad’s vintage keyboard. Classically trained in Piano, Johnathan's been a part of various worship bands & throughout college was invested in the RockQuest scene, winning the 2019 Regional Musicianship Award. Today, he produces for bands & artists alongside a Wellington based record label. Johnathan tutors on Monday and Wednesday afternoons & is excited to share his passion with the next generation of NZ’s up-and-coming musicians.

Mason

Mason Williams is one of our passionate drum tutors, having played drums/percussion since childhood. He has been playing professionally for the last decade in an array of different groups, playing in everything from metal bands to orchestras. Mason has achieved his grade 8 trinity rock and pop exam with distinction and has attended both the Victoria jazz performance and Massey commercial music degree. Mason is currently active in the Wellington music scene playing and writing with multiple local bands, and  frequent cover gigs. Mason currently tutors on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Moana

Moana comes from a musical family & has been singing from an early age. She studied Opera at the Conservatory of Music at Massey University, under the tutelage of Flora Edwards. During a 9 year stint in London, Moana performed in recitals, concerts, weddings & shows. Since returning in 2010, she's joined several pop & rock bands, & currently performs in her band, Puke & Moana. Her passion is to utilise her knowledge, teaching vocal & stage technique to students of all ages. Although the Bel Canto method is her preferred style of training, Moana can adapt this method to suit any style of singing. Moana currently teaches on Monday & Thursday afternoons.

Petar

I have been playing guitar my whole life and have developed a deep passion for a wide range of musical styles. My experience spans numerous genres, but I most frequently find myself immersed in jazz, funk, and R&B, performing with various bands around Wellington. I have a degree in Jazz performance, majoring in jazz guitar, where I've honed my skills and expanded my musical vocabulary. Over the past three years, I've also been an active member of big bands and other large ensembles, which has enriched my understanding of complex arrangements and group dynamics.

In addition to performing, I have been teaching guitar for several years and have developed a personalized approach to lessons. I believe that learning should be tailored to each student's interests, and I'm eager to dive into any genre or technique that excites them. Whether you're interested in exploring the intricate harmonies of jazz, the groove of funk, or any other style, I am here to guide you through your musical journey. My goal is to inspire and equip my students with the skills they need to express themselves confidently on the guitar.

MEET THE IN-SCHOOL TEAM

CONNOR

Since I was a kid, I've always been surrounded by music—it was always playing in our home, either on the radio, tape, or CD. I got my first guitar when I was 10 and have been out gigging and playing live since I was 13. I love performing live and spreading the joy of music and have been lucky enough to do so all over the country. I've picked up multiple instruments along the way and even a music degree. I've loved introducing music to the younger generations and seeing that spark in their eye for the first time.

CHARLI

I have always been captivated by the world of music, starting with singing from a young age. This passion grew as I learned to play the recorder and discovered the fundamentals of sheet music, until I finally got the chance to learn guitar when I was 11. As soon as I was old enough, I jumped at the opportunity to join my primary school band, which led to performing in college bands and taking part in competitions. Along the way, I began picking up different instruments and spent a lot of time pursuing opportunities to get gigs and progress in my musical ambitions.

Music is something that has truly shaped who I am as a person, and I hold it in great value in my life. I am always eager to share my experience and excitement to create an environment that inspires students, helps build their confidence and potential, and gives them a space to explore their creativity and self-expression.
